Hylid.

A recent study addressed the potential roles of biogeography and diversification rates in creating the latitudinal diversity gradient in a species-rich group of frogs (hylid treefrogs) with a center of diversity in the New World tropics (Wiens et al. 2006). These authors found that the timing of biogeographic dispersal was critical in ...

The Mexican hylid, Anotheca spinosa, lays its eggs in bromeliads or in water-filled cavities in trees. The small tadpoles, like those of Hyla, feed on aquatic insect larvae, such as those of mosquitoes, but the larger tadpoles of Anotheca apparently feed only on the eggs of frogs. Other articles where Anotheca spinosa is discussed: frog and ...

Pseudis paradoxa, known as the paradoxical frog or shrinking frog, is a species of hylid frog from South America. Its name refers to the very large—up to 27 cm (11 in) long—tadpole (the world's longest), which in turn "shrinks" during metamorphosis into an ordinary-sized frog, only about a quarter or third of its former length. Although the recordholder was a tadpole in Amapá that ...

Abstract. North America is home to anuran species belonging to the families Bufonidae, Eleutherodactylidae, Hylidae, Leiopelmatidae, Ranidae, and Scaphiopodidae but antimicrobial peptides have been identified only in skin secretions and/or skin extracts of frogs belonging to the Leiopelmatidae ("tailed frogs") and Ranidae ("true frogs").2 HYLID FORMING In spite of the current problems with the rubber press forming process, it is still believed that rubber is the most suited material to be used in the press formingPredator-induced phenotypic plasticity has been demonstrated in tadpoles of many hylid species. Tadpoles of Hyla versicolor (Van Buskirk and McCollum, 2000a) and Hyla chrysoscelis (McCollum and Van Buskirk, 1996) develop morphological changes in tail color and shape that reduce attacks by predators.Furthermore, tadpoles of A. blanchardi …Two new hylid frog species of the genus Sphaenorhynchus are described from Lagoa Nova (17 o 57'89"S, 40 o 25'80"W), Fazenda Gemada, Municipality of Mucurici, State of Espírito Santo, southeastern Brazil. Sphaenorhynchus botocudo sp. nov., a medium sized species (SVL 23.9-29.3 mm in males), is characterized by snout truncate in dorsal view and acute in profile, tympanum concealed ...

With this perspective, we dissect the latitudinal diversity gradient in hylid frogs. We reconstruct a phylogeny for 124 hylid species, estimate divergence times and diversification rates for major clades, reconstruct biogeographic changes, and use ecological niche modeling to identify climatic variables that potentially limit dispersal.

The possession of specialised sub-digital pads (toe pads) has become a taxonomic characteristic in many frog families in which the feature is prevalent, particularly amongst frogs in the families Hylidae, Microhylidae, Centrolenidae, Rhacophoridae and Hyperoliidae .

MH or Metal Halides are electrical lamps that produce lights. They are a mixture of vaporized mercury and metal halides. MH light is a type of HID or high-intensity discharged lamps. Metal Halides are developed in the year 1960 but still famous and widely used nowadays.Species with widely overlapping ecological niches tend to compete for resources. However, the distinct use of some of these resources can help reduce overlap and allow ecologically species similar to coexist.
